Clutch not disengaging

Hi all, looking for advice on my clutch.  When I put everything together I inspected the plates and linings and they looked to be in decent shape.  I suspect that they are probably the originals.  When I first start the bike and press the clutch pedal down it appears that the clutch doesn't want to disengage.  I try to select first gear but it wants to grind gears.  After riding the bike for a while and things warm up, it seems to disengage much better.  BTW I am using 50 wt oil in the transmission.

I also noticed that the amount of force required to depress the clutch pedal seems excessive.  After reading other posts on the forum it sounds like the cure for that will be to remove a couple of the springs, so I will try that.  Any suggestions on what can be done to help the clutch disengage?
