Hi. Can anyone give me the length of the solid axle shaft for the front hub. Was there a difference between 1928 hub shafts and 1929 ?

Why I am asking is that the shaft threads protude around 3/4" past the nuts.

One other question. I got with the bike an Ames horn which resembles the large horns that are fitted to the down tube, but it is shorter. Could this be original ?

I got two lengths of front axles here on my table, same diam (7/16) and length of thread (~7/8) and drilled holes for cotter pins (2,8mm). but one is 175mm and the other is 189mm. The longer is for a 101 but the shorter that I don't know what model it is from. The front axle for the ball bearing hub and the later roller bearing hub carries the same part no. 26 B 238
