First 1000 miles ....

I've now clocked 1000 miles on my 45 inch 101 ... and what a pleasure it's been, 850 miles around the back roads of Scotland and 150 miles in Germany,

I'm now pretty expert at metering the oil, and the bike pulls like a train ... I did 75 miles on Sunday at a steady 60 mph and I'm getting about 50 miles to the gallon, in the first 20 miles , I thought the bike was running real nice, a bit sluggish uphill ... checked the tappet clearances and discovered the nuts on both inlets had backed off all the way, no rattly tappet noise to warn me .. set the clearances at three or four thou and the result was incredible .. it revs like a Triumph Bonneville and pulls like a train ... I'm in love ... thanks for all the hints and tips on the way ...... Jim
