    Hi Everyone,

Very new to this site. Restoring my 1st 101 and I have a question regarding the toolbox for the 1929 101. Hoping you fellas could help me with it. Were different types of fenders made to incorporate the side toolbox? Was the toolbox an option when purchasing the bike new? The fender I currently have doesn't seem to offer the "footprint" for the toolbox to fit up against it. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Mark, welcome to the club.

Yes, toolboxes  came with the bike from the factory. Yes the fender has a flat and two holes to bolt the toolbox to . Is your fender repro? Can you send a picture?

    regards,

     Tim

Do you guys know if there is a difference between a 1928 and 1929 tool box? Specifically the lock.  Yale vs Corbin.  I see reference material with the older style lock on 1928's (the latch wraps around the side with the newer Corbin).  I am also guessing the change came in 1929? But not sure.

    Hi Tim,

Thank you sir for the response! Attached is a pic of the bike. The fender doesn't appear to be a repop but could be its for another year? Perhaps a pre 101? I disassembled the bike down to the frame shortly after this photo was taken for a full resto.

The green one is a fender from a Four. The one with measures is my Scout.

There was a change of locks sometime between -28 and -29, but the date is hard to tell. In service shots of April 12 -29, the Corbin lock can be seen and the Timken taper bearing hubs was released July 15th so the lock must have been another of the "no yearly models, just constant improvement" thingys from the Wigwam.
