Threads for rear wheel cone adjuster nut

The threads on the pipe that screws into the brake plate on my 101 are a bit tweaked and I would like to buy a tap to clean things up a bit.  I was just looking at Greer's and Walker's - and they both indicate that the cone adjusting nut that screws on to that pipe is a 7/8"-24 LH thread.  I assume both ends of the pipe are the same thread.  What I noticed, however, is that mine is a RH thread - both on the cone adjuster side as well as the brake plate side.  Is it possible that Indian used both LH and RH during the 101 production run?  I did find a 7/8"-24 RH tap with UNS threads.  Hopefully the "UNS" part is correct.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Hi Bill, I’d be worried using a tap to clean threads up, I did that in the beginning and realised it over sized the threads, and that was using top quality taps and dies. Use a bolt of the same size, cut a couple of grooves lengthwise with a fine disc and run that trough.
