Thanks to everyone in the forum for help steering me away from the "project" I almost purchased. It ended up being a late '27 police motor on a badly altered 101 frame.

That being said, I'm looking to purchase a word of mouth 101. so if anyone knows of one (I'm not expecting a barn find or the divorced woman dumping one off cheap to get back at her husband) please pm me. Mike at kiwi , Tim Raindle and Ziggy have been especially helpful.

Take care and hope to hear from you.

    Scotty,

I see you're from Los Gatos.  Are you talking about the 28 dirt track racer that was on CL last week?  I'll keep my eyes open for you.

I purchased the 101 with the altered frame.  The motor is an early 1928 police special scout.  This worked out well since I have a proper 1928 police special frame and a 45" 101 motor.  It looks like its frame was altered for wall of death riding.

I'm really happy with this purchase!  This makes my 4th Scout 101 in the stable.
