Hello, Ive just joined the 101 association , I'm from the Uk and have loved the 101 for many years, fortunatly I am now in the position to  buy, I'm aware they don't come cheap so I am really seeking any guidance advice before I purchase,  my first choice would be a 101 in original paint I quite like the oily rag look but mechanically sound. There are a couple for sale in the UK at the moment this one on ebay caught my eye, eBay item number:

152095171757 any comments would be greatly appreciated or help in locating a 101

    Many Thanks

    Hi Matt,

Interesting 101 with quite a lot of modifications, I suppose it depends on what your actually after a more original 101 or something like this one. Price wise are you better off looking and is it easy import from another country? There has been a couple in Australia in very good original order for sale.

    Cheers

Thanks for the reply Brett, Yes I would like as original as possible, how realistic this is I don't know. I was surprised at the price of the one in Australia compared to Uk but after taxes and transport price was somewhat closer to Uk prices, no duties in Europe so opportunities here, as stated earlier I could really do with an expert to help to identify a good original 101

    Regards

As soon as you find an object, just bomb us with questions. We don't know what you want to know without questions. No question is too daft! It is better to go via the Yahoo forum group if you want to share or see some photos. There's some great albums in there for identifying details and stuff. Details are important when you wants to weed out an way overpriced bitza bobber (bits a' this and bits a' that...) from a worthy basket object.

Prepared for some fierce competition if you find a true original survivor on the open market.

Books, you can never have too many books.

Jerry Hatfields books are good. I like the "Indian photographic history" and "Indian Scout".

And not the least important, make a good organized album on your computer and save all that you can find. It is only the one picture that you didn't save that you find is the one you'll need.
