intermediate rolling bearing tolerance

    Hi, is there any recommendation what the tolerance should be on intermediate rolling bearing in the transmission.

    Same play as in the crankshaft bearings 0,0127mm or 0.5 thou of an inch. Side clearance 0,25-0,5mm or .010-.020in.

    Yup, as usual, Carl-Erik is correct. 

    The gear is sleeved, if it is a little worn, it can be honed and oversize rolls used. If the surface of the bush is badly pitted, the sleeve should be pressed out and replaced. Randy Walker stocks new sleeves. They are usually useable tho.

    Also check the backlash on the gears, occasionally the transmission needs to be shimmed to give enough free play.
