Help Identifying 101 Year

    I know the divisions between model years was kind of fuzzy during the 101 production, but hoping somebody can help me determine if my new acquisition is a 1928 or 1929 model.  Engine number is DGP 3335 which leads me to believe 1929.  No through-tank compression release, but I can't promise it's the orginal tank.  I've attached a couple of photos.  Looking forward to your help.

    Hi John, the engine number is theoretically 1928.

    The main changes for 1929 were no thru the tank compression release, and the machines left the factory with drop centre rims, not clinchers. 

    1928 hubs rode on ball race bearings,, which were changed to a Timken taper roller for 1929.

    Not a lot of difference elsehere tbh.

    Thanks, Tim.  Since I've got the drop-center rims and no thru-tank compression release, I'm going to call her a 1929 even though the engine number is a bit low.

    Looks like a good basic machine to start with.

    If you are missing the chain guard, or other parts, Reno Indian Parts CZ make good repros. I found the quality was good and price even better !!
