Can anyone tell me what the two handle like bits that stick out from each side of the Princess sidecar, slightly lower than the arm rests, are for ?

My guess would be a sturdy hinge for a cabrio-roof or high cover..

Hi Carl, I wondered if they were handles ,so you could grab them to lower or raise yourself out of the seat, without pulling on the arm-rests. I have seen old photos of very early sidecars with a hoop that raises with a screen on, and also wondered if it was for something like that.

Photo below of my sidecar, minus 2KG of paint and filler !!

I haven't got a good enough picture of a Princess with cabrio-roof, but the construction is similar to this.
