Wheel bearing cup removal

Anybody have any tricks for removing the bearing cups from the wheel hubs?  I tried coaxing one out with a drift (the only I could really get to with a drift) and it didn't want to move.  I have read about running a weld bead around the center of the cup but that was for applications where the cup was seated in aluminum.  Not sure if that would work for this though.  Just doesn't seem to be a good way to get at these.

Thanks for any suggestions or ideas you may have.

Bead of weld will  work fine Bill, assuming the cups are shot. The weld will shrink the cup slightly .

If the cups are in serviceable condition, leave them in and use them. Chances are, drifting them out will fracture them.
