Congrats to a frame with a frame number, they are pretty rare. Frames with prefix G has 45ci engines fitted and with the prefix S has 37ci engines fitted original, but the frames are same and does not differ in any other detail. 1931 frames came with the new hub that has the chain sprocket on the brake drum and the axle plate is different on the right hand side compared to 1930 and earlier axle plate. Engine numbers and frame numbers does not match until 1932 or maybe -33 I think.

Hi Sasha, yup, thats a 31. Ideally you would be looking for an EGP motor higher than 3080 engine number. Any 101 will fit tho.

Would it be EGP and FGP as well ?

Looking at some internet site and information for decoding engine year . It states letter E for 1930 year and letter F for 1931 year (GP Scout 45 ci engine ).

EG is the engine prefix for 1930 and 1931 Scouts. EG would be a 37"motor and EGP a 45" motor. The change over  from 1930 to 1931 is beleived to be around EGP 3080, and 37 " at around EG 925.

The only largely discernible difference between a 1930 motor and a 1931 motor is the later oil pump for 31 , and DLX 79 Schebler carburettor with pot metal body, also new that year.

The numbering system changed for 1932, as did the motors, as the standard scout was mounted in the Chief frame.

    Hope that helps.

I am confused here.... If I look at that site which I am including screen shoot it shows in the table :

    Scout 45ci GP

    Scout 37ci G

    1930 year E

    1931 year F

Not sure is I am not reading this correctly .

    In that case :

    1930 45ci engine should be EGP and 1931 45ci engine FGP ????
