Well I am at the end of my tether with this motorcycle hence this frustrated message....I have a 1927 short frame Scout with a 1928 37ci motor which has been rebuilt. Magneto is a Bosch BEVf restored.

I have taken the timing cover off and ensured the timing marks are all in their correct location. I have then checked the magneto is correctly set up with full advance as per all the information from your manual and the Bosch documentation. This I might say I have done now some three times to confirm I haven't missed anything, yet she still does not want to start. I have replaced plugs...AB6 NGK, I have replaced the spark leads and confirmed the correct cylinders.

Basically my right leg is worn out from kicking so unless there is a mechanic in the area who knows how to start these I am considering selling her....

    Any thoughts....or offers...

    Thanks

    Brett

Did you time the magneto to the motor?

Bosch BEVF is for 45 degree twins (Harley) Indians are 42 degree, but even so it should still run if the timing is correct but very badly.

Try ringing Jim Parker he is an Indian guru and shop in Melbourne he might be able to help.

    Hi Peter,

Yes I did time the magneto and it is set up as 42 degree. I went out again late yesterday and turned the idle jet up to 2.5 turns and she almost fired and was kicking back at me.

I have rung Jim, that was my next option if I kept her was to send her down to him to get it running.

I have listed it at $24K AUD, if your interested.

    Thanks

    Brett

Well I went out and tried again, I have got her firing but she refuses to run or idle....she has spark, new spark plugs with gaps of .025, has fuel, idle jet I have tried a variety of settings from 1.5 - 3 turns and she fires best around the 2 -2.5, the high speed needle is at 1.5 turns, the throttle is about 1/3 open, the magneto is fully advanced.

I have had the timing cover off a few times and I have the magneto timed to the rear cylinder at 5/16 before TDC. The points gap is .020. The front spark lead goes to the front cylinder (2) and the rear spark lead to the rear cylinder (1).

    Am I missing anything else??
